Listening Session for Legally Responsible Individuals

In 2021, The Arc of Virginia and its members successfully secured permanent approval from the General Assembly for LRIs to receive compensation as caregivers for their families. In 2023, when DMAS announced the rules for LRIs to be paid, originally set to go into effect Nov. 11th, The Arc and advocates across the state rallied again to have the implementation of the new rules delayed until March 1, 2024.

Across Virginia, we are preparing for the 2023 General Election, where all 140 seats of the VA General Assembly are up for election.

With HISTORIC turnover, now MORE THAN EVER -- it is key that you learn about the candidates who will be in positions to make key funding and policy decisions that will impact our community for the coming years.

YOUR VOTE is important in making sure that elected officials are ones that prioritize issues impacting people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Due to capacity, we could not host a Forum in every area. In the districts where they are being held, all candidates were invited and as long as a few could attend, we will hold them. The Arc of Virginia and its chapters are nonpartisan, 501(c)3 organizations and do not endorse any party or candidates.
