
Carol Schall
Carol Schall, Ph.D., the Director of Research at VCU’s Rehabilitation Research and Training Center, has over 40 years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through multiple direct service and academic roles. Dr. Schall has consulted nationally and internationally on the implementation of support and customized employment. For over 20 years, Dr. Schall served as the research coordinator, providing positive behavior support consultation and instructional technical assistance for the Project SEARCH Plus ASD Supports program across three randomized controlled trials at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Schall also developed the Community-Based Functional Skills Assessment with Autism Speaks to assist youth and emerging adults with autism in setting appropriately ambitious transition goals. In addition, she is currently leading the implementation of two important research studies related to supported and customized employment and preemployment transition services. Finally, I have extensive experience as a member of VCU’s institutional review board and is well aware of the importance of ethical issues related to the implementation of clinical trial research.
