Building A Life Like Yours for people
with developmental disabilities
A Life Like Yours reminds us that people with developmental disabilities want the same things as anyone else—at every stage of life.
As kids, that means the chance to play, learn alongside our peers, and be included.
As adults, it means having a
home
of our own, a meaningful
job
or way to
spend our days, and
relationships
we trust and value. These are the things that make up a good life—for all of us.
Our Reach Across Virginia
For more than 70 years, The Arc of Virginia has been building a strong, connected movement—led by people with developmental disabilities and their families. Our reach extends across the Commonwealth through 21 local chapters, each providing advocacy, support, and community connection.
In addition to the powerful work of our chapters, The Arc of Virginia engages with our members through events, training, action alerts, and outreach—and our statewide members are just part of a much larger network. When you include the people connected through our local chapters, the true reach of this movement is even deeper and more far-reaching than numbers alone can show.
And that reach? It’s not just ours—it’s yours. It’s all of ours.

Changing the World Around Us

You Can Be
(in)clusive
YOU CAN BE INCLUSIVE
Communities are strongest when places and spaces are welcoming to everyone who lives there.
Yet, for many people with disabilities, this is not their experience (or reality). People have been excluded simply because of one part of who they are. The “Are You (in)" campaign believes that everyone can play a part in changing that.
We are here for YOU!
Whether you're a parent of a newborn just starting your New Path, a young adult with big dreams, or a caregiver seeking support, The Arc of Virginia is here for YOU.
Our mission is to provide advocacy, information, and family support to Virginians with developmental disabilities
through every stage of life—from early childhood to adulthood and aging —regardless diagnosis, or support needs.
