About Me:
My name is Brittney Lee. Having Cerebral Palsy and an Intellectual Disability does not stop me; it motivates me to pursue my dreams. The word “can’t” is not in my vocabulary. I am a proud self-advocate who believes in accepting yourself and your abilities.
I am a Peer Mentor who educates individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and teaches life skills, communication, and self-advocacy. I have worked with Mitchell Residential Solutions for five years, and maintaining employment has strengthened my independence, confidence, and sense of purpose.
I am a graduate of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College’s PAVE Program and a Certified LEAP Trainer. Through LEAP, I educate young adults about healthy relationships, leadership, and seeking help when needed.
I am passionate about writing my autobiography, Obstacles Are a Stepping Stone to Victory. My experiences have taught me that challenges can become stepping stones to success. My faith in God has helped me understand that being different makes me extraordinary.
I want to change the stigma surrounding disabilities and remind others that we all have abilities and talents to share. My motto is: “Believe, imagine, and achieve. Remember, you are in charge of your destiny.
